Biomass Downdraft Gasifier

HYDRO_BMASS

The Biomass Downdraft Gasifier Trainer is an educational system designed to demonstrate the process of biomass gasification, where solid biomass is thermochemically converted into producer gas (syngas). This system features a downdraft gasifier, which ensures efficient combustion and cleaner gas output, making it ideal for academic experiments and research.

Learners can visually observe distinct combustion zones—drying, pyrolysis, oxidation, and reduction—through specially designed viewing windows, enhancing conceptual understanding. The trainer is equipped with ports for gas sampling and flow analysis, enabling evaluation of syngas composition (CO, H₂, CH₄) and its calorific value.

Compact and safe, the system is mounted on a mobile skid and includes essential safety features such as flame arrestors and backfire protection. It is well-suited for use in renewable energy labs, mechanical engineering departments, and environmental science programs.

Key Features:

  • Visual access to combustion zones

  • Gas composition and flow analysis

  • Safe, compact setup ideal for labs
